INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY – 8 MARCH 2026 (Sunday)

International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to recognise the important role women play in fisheries, aquaculture, seafood trade and coastal livelihoods across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Women contribute across the fisheries value chain – from harvesting and aquaculture production to processing, marketing, research and governance. Their knowledge, skills and leadership are essential to strengthening sustainable fisheries, improving food security and supporting resilient coastal communities.

Aligned with the 2026 International Women’s Day theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”, INFOFISH reaffirms the importance of inclusive development and equal opportunities within the fisheries sector.

As an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable fishery product development and trade, INFOFISH remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance women’s participation, leadership and economic empowerment throughout the fisheries value chain.

By recognising and supporting the contributions of women, we move closer to building a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient fisheries sector for the future.
